ITIC held its first complimentary Contract Management Workshop on Thursday 27th February 2013...

A group of 15 ITIC members, insurance brokers and account executives gathered around a horseshoe shaped table last Thursday morning to attend an ITIC workshop on Contract Management.  This is part of ITIC’s loss prevention programme and has been developed to explain to Members the basic requirements for a contract, the reasons why certain clauses are required and the insurance implications of clauses in those contracts. ITIC's Legal Advisor, Mark Brattman, is the author and presenter at the event.

The session was interactive, with attendees asking a number of questions whilst Mark discussed topics such as the formation of a contract, termination and damages and limitation clauses. After the coffee break a case study was distributed and worked on by the guests in their groups. Answers were then presented to the group, before any final queries were given to Mark.

A well earned final break was signalled when the sandwiches and wine arrived. Delegates networked over lunch, which also gave all who attended an opportunity to meet and talk with their ITIC account executives.

Feedback was very positive and all of the attendees said that they would recommend the workshop to a colleague and one delegate summarised the session as being "a good whistle stop tour of the subject." Another delegate said that the workshop had "reinforced and informed current knowledge with a different viewpoint."

We would like to thank all who attended for making this event successful and hope that we have given them the knowledge and confidence that they need when negotiating contracts with clients.

ITIC will be running a second workshop in early June.
